The associates of Omnipro Services provide professional agency construction management (CM) services that are focused on our clients. We perform services on each of our client’s projects as if it were our project. We are a highly focused organization that concentrates on our mission statement parameters to deliver the best agency CM services available.

Unlike many of our competitors, our sole business is the delivery of CM services. These services are not offered as a side business, a division, or a service line. The market is filled with failed general contractors who’s poor decision making have resulted in the loss of many of their assets and their ability to bond projects. These firms have historically turned to CM as a last means of survival, utilizing whatever resources they have left to operate in the lower capital intensive market of CM services. They typically refer to this approach as “reducing risk profile” in order to sell the change in their business model. However, one must ask, “If they did such a poor job managing their own work, why should they manage my work?”

The market also has countless engineering design/architect firms that offer CM services as a separate business line or business division. Many of these firms offer these services as a means of increasing their revenue base by expanding vertically in the construction market. Quite often, however, these business units are managed in that perspective, an extra business line to increase revenues (i.e. – bottom line driven). It is not the focal point of the organization and therefore usually does not get the resources and executive level commitment that their core services get.

When selecting your next Construction Manager,
consider the following questions:

  1. How many services lines other than CM does this organization offer?
  2. What is the organization’s core business?
  3. What resources does this organization provide to resolve my construction issues?
  4. If considering a general contractor –
    a. Are they offering CM services as a means to “re-allocate” or “reduce” risk profile?
    b. How has their general contracting business performed over the past five years?
    c. Has their bonding capacity been diminished over the past five years?
    d. Get owner references from all projects they advertise and inquire about the firm.
  5. If considering a designer/architect –
    a. Why are they offering CM services? What is the mission statement?
    b. Do they typically just perform CM services on their own designs?
    c. What is the ratio of design personnel to CM personal within the organization?
    d. Get owner references from all projects they advertise and inquire about the firm.
  6. What is the geographical focus of this company? Are they diffused over numerous states or focused in your region?
